Cases in Precision Oncology: Complex In-frame DELINS in Cancer
Description
Complex In-frame Variants in Cancer: How to recognize and communicate these variants when your informatics pipeline does not
Dr. Kandelaria (Ande) Rumilla, Beth Pitel, and Kaitlyn Paxton are some of the technical experts that work behind the scenes at Mayo Clinic Genomic Technologies Laboratory, part of the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic, to investigate genomic and transcriptomic variants at a sequence level. In this session, the team will highlight the importance of understanding the genomic frame status in solid tumor testing.
Target Audience
All medical and healthcare professionals and researchers interested in understanding cancer genomic testing and somatic and germline variant interpretation methods. This series is presented as a collaboration between ClinGen Somatic, VICC, and ACMG consortia.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this session, participants should be able to:
- List 3 genes that are known to have actionable in-frame mutations in cancer.
- Describe how 2 frameshift mutations may or may not have an overall in-frame effect.
- Explain how interpreting variants as in-frame or out-of-frame can alter patient management.
