CME Content Requirements

  • CME Application Submission: The CME Application for AMA PRA Category 1TM activity must be submitted to ACMG Education at least three months prior to the activity date.  This application must include a proposed budget detailing expected revenue and projected expenses, as well as at least one documented source for the needs assessment.
  • Planner & Speaker forms: All planners & speakers involved in a CME activity must complete a disclose of financial relationships (or a statement indicating the absence of such relationships) with ineligible companies. They must also agree to ACMG policies for keeping the education free from commercial bias and promotion. Speakers are additionally required to ensure the education is evidence-based and to provide their learning objectives.
  • Disclosure of Financial Relationships: To be completed by the Activity Medical Director, Activity Coordinator, and any other individuals who have the authority to influence the planning, content, implementation, or evaluation of the CME activity. Please refer to the Accredited Continuing Education (ACE) Financial Disclosure Policy for more information.
  • Promotion: All promotional materials—both printed and digital (including emails and social media)—for a CME activity must receive prior approval from ACMG before use or distribution. Promotion of CME credit is prohibited until the CME Credit Application has been approved. CME statements for the activity will be emailed once approval is granted and must be included in all marketing materials, except for brief save-the-date announcements. Refer to the promotional materials for brochures, emails, and flyers as needed, and consult the ACMG Presentation Branding Policy.
  • Disclosures to Learners: Certain information must be disclosed to learners at the CME activity (See Accredited Continuing Education (ACE) Financial Disclosure Policy) via an introductory slide, an activity handout (either printed or digital), or a webpage for online modules. ACMG will create a PowerPoint slide to be included at the beginning of the activity. This information may also be included as a handout to learners.
  • Content Validation Policy: Adherence to the Content Validation Policy is required for all CME activities.
  • Activity Evaluation: Learners must have the opportunity to evaluate the education provided. Handouts or online surveys are effective tools for conducting post-activity evaluations for a CME course. The Office of Education will assist in creating an evaluation for the CME activity.
