About this course
Short Courses are half day courses held on the Tuesday afternoon prior to the official start of the Annual Clinical Genetics meeting. These courses are focused on one particular topic and allow participants an additional opportunity to earn educational credits.

The number and complexity of patient with metabolic disorders continue to rise, while the number of Medical or Clinical Biochemical Geneticists has not kept pace. As a result, Clinical Geneticists are responsible for providing care for a wide range of patients and benefit from opportunities to update metabolic knowledge. The North American Metabolic Academy (NAMA) was founded to provide a week-long course on inborn errors of metabolism to genetic residents/fellows. The short course NAMA at the ACMG provides an opportunity for practicing geneticists to sample a portion of this curriculum. The course will focus on metabolism across the age span from infancy and childhood, to adulthood.
