Stuart J. Slavin, MD, MEd

Stuart Slavin, MD, MEd, is a pediatrician, medical educator, and nationally recognized leader in learner
and physician well-being. He led pioneering reforms at Saint Louis University School of Medicine that
dramatically reduced depression and anxiety among medical students while maintaining academic
performance. From 2018 to 2026, he served at the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), most
recently as Vice President for Well-Being, helping lead national efforts to improve physician well-being and clinical learning
environments. His current work focuses on the psychological and environmental factors contributing to anxiety, depression,
burnout, and self-critical mindsets among adolescents and young adults. He is the author of The Success Trap: How the
Pressure to Stand Out Is Fueling Anxiety, Depression, and Burnout in Teens—and the Fundamental Fix They Deserve.
