Session Description:

This session will explore ethical issues encountered in gene therapy research in children. In particular, the session will consider issues relevant to obtaining consent, managing uncertainty, and incorporating psychosocial concerns of families in the decision-making process regarding gene therapy research.

Session Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of the webinar, participants should be able to:

  1. Discuss the spectrum of ethical, legal, and social issues concerning gene therapy research is broad.
  2. Identify special considerations in obtaining informed consent for gene therapy research.
  3. Describe psychosocial considerations of families contemplating gene therapy research.
