The GRACE study can inform the implementation of traceback programs across healthcare systems, helping prevent and mitigate the burden of ovarian and other hereditary cancers.<br /><br />The methods involved tumor registry searches to identify individuals with ovarian cancer diagnosis codes, exclusion of individuals with prior genetic diagnosis or testing, and offering genetic testing with a 60-gene cancer risk panel to eligible individuals. For those with positive findings, facilitated genetic testing was offered to at-risk relatives.<br /><br />The results showed a recruitment rate of 24% and a positive rate of 21% among the participants. The years since diagnosis did not affect the ability to contact individuals or the rate of consent.<br /><br />Overall, the study highlights the importance of traceback approaches in identifying individuals with a prior diagnosis of ovarian cancer who could benefit from genetic risk information. This information can be life-saving for both the individuals and their families in preventing and managing hereditary cancers.
