Pdf Summary
The American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) provides free access to approved ACT Sheets and Algorithms on their website. These resources are part of the National Coordinating Center for the Regional Genetics Networks' mission to improve access to genetic services for underserved populations. The ACT Sheets and Algorithms are clinical decision support tools for non-genetic providers, focusing on genetic conditions identified through newborn screening. There are currently 98 ACT Sheets and 52 corresponding Algorithms available.

The development and review process for the ACT Sheets and Algorithms involves drafting by the NCC Medical Consultant, review by the NCC Metabolic Conditions ACT Sheet Small Group, and approval by the ACMG Board of Directors. They are further reviewed by the NCC Metabolic Conditions ACT Sheet Small Group and the NCC ACT Sheet Advisory Group, both consisting of newborn screening experts and partners.

A survey conducted on the ACMG ACT Sheet and Algorithms webpage found that 67.3% of respondents accessed these resources either once per week or once per month. Additionally, 76.9% of respondents stated that the ACT Sheets and Algorithms improved their genetics knowledge. This suggests that providers find these resources helpful in enhancing their understanding of genetics. The systematic review process will continue to update and improve existing ACT Sheets and Algorithms, and new ones will be developed as disorders are recommended for inclusion in the Recommended Uniform Screening Panel.

Overall, the availability and utilization of the ACMG ACT Sheets and Algorithms contribute to the improvement of genetics knowledge among healthcare providers. The review process ensures the accuracy and relevance of the resources, and ongoing efforts will continue to expand and update the available materials.
